Velana International Airport, known locally as Male Airport (MLE), is the main gateway to the Maldives — the first stop for almost every visitor arriving from abroad. Sitting on Hulhulé island just minutes from the capital, the airport jetty is where your island holiday actually begins. From here our scheduled ferries and private hire speedboats head straight to local guesthouse islands, with travel times ranging from under an hour to about two hours depending on the destination.
